The Toronto South Asian Review, the Centre for South
Asian Studies at the University of Toronto, and The
Writers Forum present a three-day celebration of South Asian literature, music, art, and culture.
RETURN TO "MEETING OF STREAMS":
A SOUTH ASIAN LITERARY AND ARTS FESTIVAL IN TORONTO
SEPTEMBER 25-26, 2009
In 1983, the newly founded Toronto South Asian Review organized a literary conference to bring together writers of South Asian origin and discuss the status of the literature. The writers were mostly unknown to each other and South Asian writing in Canada almost unknown to the wider public. Suffice it to say, the event turned out to be a landmark and gave rise to the important volume A Meeting of Streams: South Asian Canadian Literature, edited by M G Vassanji.
Partly to commemorate
that historical get-together and also simply to
celebrate the arts, The Toronto South Asian Review, TSAR
Publications, the Centre for South Asian Studies of the
University of Toronto, and the Writers Forum of Canada
is organizing a cultural festival to be held at the Munk
Centre of the U of T on September 25-26, 2009.
